quotation mark A great opportunity to allow yourself to relax and learn at the same time. I loved everything -  thank you so much for giving me this amazing opportunity. Nicolien Braithwaite, Social Anthropology Graduate, University of Kent at Canterbury. quotation mark

What is PhotoReading?

PhotoReading is a unique way to process and understand large volumes of information quickly and efficiently. It wins praise from people wanting to get on top of information.

PhotoReading leaves speedreading in the dust because it uses the photographic centre of the brain to take in material and whole mind learning techniques to access it, instead of just learning to move your eyeballs more quickly. In PhotoReading we are interested in understanding the meaning of the entire page, and not just learning to move our eyeballs more quickly over the page.

An average reading speed is 120-300 words per minute. Speedreading can increase this to a top rate of 1000 words per minute. When you learn PhotoReading you can increase your reading speed to 10 000wpm or more, leaving you more time for other, more important activities like winning clients or spending quality time with the family to reduce stress and perform better. In the history of teaching PhotoReading our clients have proven many times over that the diligent use of PhotoReading raises creativity, increases confidence and problem-solving, and impacts the bottom line.

Benefits of learning to PhotoRead at 25000wpm+

  • Raise your comprehension to 85% or more - win new clients
  • Get your work done faster - get more clients and earn more
  • Be more creative in your business - get an edge over others
  • Be an expert problem-solver - save money
  • Get better results at work - more job satisfaction
  • De-stress while you work - be happier and healthier

The best thing about learning to PhotoRead is that you start by learning PhotoReading and end up finding that the skills you have learned on the course are influencing everything you do. By attending one course you get to hit lots of targets all at once. A new paradigm in personal effectiveness has been born.

What do you want PhotoReading to help you to achieve?

Do you set yourself a learning outcome before picking up a book or any reading material for that matter? Before reading an email or letter, do you for instance, ask yourself: 'Why am I reading this?' and/or 'What do I wish to gain from reading this for my business?' The fact is that most of us actually don't. We just assume a letter or email will be of interest or that we can bin it. This is not the same as reading in a focussed way. In fact, by using the 'suck it and see' approach, we waste more time than we use constructively. This is a poor way of working.

In learning to PhotoRead it is important to have a learning outcome and to learn how to phrase them effectively, because it engages the most powerful part of our brain - the unconscious mind - to seek for information that will meet our outcome. In doing this we are preparing for Deep Learning - which is our key goal - and are ensuring the likelihood that we will achieve it. So: what kind of success would you like your PhotoReading to achieve? Be specific.

........effectiveness.........creativity........relaxation..........fun.........wealth.......

Do you believe that PhotoReading is for others, not for you?

Well you would be wrong - anyone can learn it, with the possible exception of those who have sustained particular sorts of brain damage. We have 81 instructors around the world, who have between them taught 500 000 people from all walks of life and nearly all ages to do PhotoReading. Children aged upwards of 10 years can learn it - it is common for families to learn it on our courses together - and a course for primary school children is being developed as I write this. Normal readers can learn it, poor readers can find they excel at it, and it has long since been known that dyslexics, people with ADHD, ADD and various other learning challenges can have their first experience of themselves as excellent learners while learning to PhotoRead.

History

Photographic memory has been known as a natural human skill for over a century, it's just that the people using it could not explain what they were doing or how they did it - until the visionary Paul Scheele, my teacher, came along. He identified it in himself and broke it down into individual actions - a simple, 5-step system - which is now being taught around the world.

We all have a photographic centre in the brain, it's just that we never get told this as children or taught how to use it. For this reason in PhotoReading instruction we say that we are essentially awakening an ability in people that they have always possessed, and this is why delegates often feel the course is such an eye-opener.

  • Imagine being able to snapshot every page or computer screen in a fraction of the time. How much faster would you get through your emails, journals, research and how much more time would you have for building your business or spending quality time at home.
  • Wouldn't it be great to read a 200-page book in 50 minutes and be able to apply the knowledge from it to your business immediately, to give you the edge over your competitors, instead of a week reading it and another integrating your new knowledge.
  • Imagine becoming more knowledgeable in your field in double quick time and being able to solve your client's issues more quickly than your competitors can. This is the sort of skill that builds a great reputation and attracts new clients.
  • If you are a manager, what new things could you ask your staff to develop for your business if you knew they had this skill.

What you will learn

Photo-reading is a five-step whole mind approach to learning and reading that enables you to get your reading done in the time you have available and at the comprehension level you need. In the first three hours of the course, you learn to do steps 1 to 3, and so will be PhotoReading at a rate of 10 000wpm - that's a page per second.

On Days 2 and 3 you learn to do steps 4 and 5 to bring the information you have PhotoRead to mind in a way that meets your learning purpose for that day, so that you can have conversations about it in a meeting, do a presentation, write a report or an essay, or do an exam - whatever you need. You learn to apply the skills to all sorts of written material - short articles, long articles, books etc - to increase your independence, and finehone your ability. You learn to apply the skills to all sorts of written material - short articles, long articles, books etc - and you learn how to use your skills with others to maximize team-working. This is profound for working in a corporate environment.

Being taught with accelerated learning methods, delegates are required to learn how to phrase powerful learning outcomes, and so are cultivating a strategic focus which will impact on other things, such as goal-setting, prioritizing, decision-making, time management, creativity and problem-solving abilities into the bargain. A free course in mind-mapping is also included.

Comprehension rates

PhotoReading delegates typically achieve comprehension levels of 85% or more (75% is an A grade at School or Uni) in their reading, but you can aim for whatever comprehension level you wish. Whether you want to achieve 50% or 100%, we will make sure you understand how to achieve it.

PhotoReading in Education

PhotoReading is superb for children. It is also popular for parents because it represents a bonding opportunity on many levels. Children over 9 years of age can attend courses, but we will need to discuss this in advance of your booking places.

PhotoReading is particularly helpful for dyslexics and people with other reading difficulties. Dyslexics are visually gifted, and they have been shown to have a roving point of attention. The PhotoReading system helps dyslexics to focus, and as it allows delegates to use the visual skills palette, dyslexics often find they make excellent PhotoReaders.

Parents, guardians, teachers, learning support workers and others in education are welcome to make enquiries to book places. Please note that young people under 18 years of age and adults with learning difficulties will only be permitted to attend with an appropriate adult throughout the course, who will be responsible for them. Please contact us to make enquiries.

A word of caution

There is a common misunderstanding about PhotoReading which I would like to clear up. Many people think that attending a two-day PhotoReading course will automatically give them a photographic memory. This is not what the course promises.

The brain is not a muscle, nor does it contain any, but it acts like one, and as we all know, the more we flex a muscle, the more supple and able it becomes. If you start to use the visual centre of your brain to do the thing it was born to do, namely, to work photographically and organically - you will be flexing the 'muscle' that can deliver astonishing performance levels.

For some people this can include developing a photographic recall of the contents of a book - knowing where an item occurs in the book - but it does not necessarily follow as a result of attending a course. There are lots of excellent PhotoReaders out there who do not have photographic recall - and this is no reflection on their ability or future potential. In fact, while a photographic memory is fun to have and incredible useful, it would be unwise to judge your abilities by whether you have achieved this. You can be an outstanding PhotoReader and lead an outstandingly successful life without it. I generally caution people against making this their sole rationale for attending a course, and to learn to judge their performance using other criteria.

At Blue Orchid Consulting we promise to (1) deliver a quality course, (2) help you gain a deep and practical understanding of the paradigm you need to be running to secure an outstanding level of learning and personal effectiveness using PhotoReading. If a photographic recall should develop in your brain in time - I do not exclude it - then we can indeed celebrate, but it is not something we will promise. For starters, it will be best to attend your first PhotoReading course to get you started, to play with the system as recommended on the course (we will show you how), and to cultivate integrity around the integration of your newfound skills in your everyday. That alone will make you an outstanding PhotoReader.

SpeedReading

An average reading rate is 150-300wpm. Come on our courses, and in just 3.5 hours we will teach you to read 33% faster with by the end of the course or your money back. This is our guarantee.

Example: you read emails, working material and newspapers etc for, say, 3 hours a day at work. Your fee for 7 hours is £350, so £50ph. After coming on our course, you get your deskwork done in just 2 hours, saving £50 a day, £350 every weekday, £1000 per month, or £12000pa. If money is not your thing, think of how else you can spend this time - family, hobbies, travel....

The human brain is a naturally fast reader, but the way we are taught to read at school slows us down and most of us never have a true experience of how quickly our brains can really read while maintaining good comprehension.

We are frequently asked to read out loud, which is fine when you are testing pronunciation, but it slows down the rate at which text can be absorbed. Research has shown that in later years, even when we are not reading out aloud, we are still sub-vocalising - an involuntary movement of the vocal chords - by virtue of these bad habits, and so we remain forever limited unless someone shows us otherwise.

Another bad habit is believing we have to read every word slowly and deliberately, in order to understand it. In reality the brain does not need this time in order to absorb information - we have just been conditioned to believe it does. The average duration of these mini pauses is 0.27seconds, so in a book of 150 pages, with 30 lines per page and 15 words per line we are making pauses worth a staggering 2 hours. Add to this any jumps, missed words and lines, and paragraphs that we go back and read twice, and you get the picture of a boring, literally mind-numbing process, when it could be so much more dynamic and effective.
